Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on Friday the launch of a new class of green bonds, known as CPR Verde, as part of an effort to protect forestland, even as the government is widely criticized at home and abroad for the scope of deforestation in the Amazon. With the CPR Verde, rural agricultural producers can sell bonds to corporate buyers and receive financial incentives for reserving land for preservation.
